Volunteer Opportunities

During the summer of 2013 before the founding of AFSC, we contacted leaders in churches and Christian schools in the area to determine the level of interest in the mission of the Apologetics Forum of Snohomish County (AFSC). Attendance at the first meetings indicated a high level of interest in the topics discussed at the monthly AFSC meetings. A survey questionnaire was sent to about 60 possible interested parties and provided to AFSC meeting attendees. Volunteers came forward to help with many of the tasks identified at the time.

AFSC is now a more mature organization and we have identified some new tasks that will help expand the reach of AFSC with the help of more volunteers. Help us develop additional Apologetics resources that can be used to help equip believers in the defense of The Faith. 1 Pet. 3:15; Jude 3. We are looking for volunteers to help promote apologetics resources and events in the following ways:

  1. Church Liaison: Our desire is to identify a person at each church, with interests in apologetics resources and events, to serve as a liaison with AFSC to promote and publicize apologetics within their church.
  2. Video/audio recording: Talks at the Friday evening AFSC meetings are live streamed and recorded. We need a few more volunteers to run the equipment during the meetings. Detailed documentation is available to help train operators.
  3. Web Development: We need to update and support an existing website and to add content. Some can also work with the website administrator to design, build and maintain the website using WordPress, the most popular web development tool on the Internet. This is an opportunity for someone to expand their skills in their career, or just use some free time to expand the reach of apologetics resources.
  4. Publicity: This person will help develop publicity plans and produce promotional materials that can be used to promote events and resources provided by AFSC to a wider audience. This includes creating flyers, posters, and announcement slides, and posting apologetics events on online newspaper calendars.
  5. Social Media: This person will help build Facebook, Twitter , and Instagram communities for AFSC, and promote content in AFSC social media channels.
  6. Camera (wo)men: We would like to find someone to take occasional pictures of apologetics events and resources that they can be posted to the AFSC website and/or social media.
  7. Strategic Planners:  We can use planners to develop and implement strategies for reaching, and addressing the needs of, churches, Christian Schools, home school groups, church leaders, youth groups, college/career groups, adults, etc. in the area of apologetics. All this to fulfill the AFSC mission to help equip believers in the defense of The Faith.
  8. Additional Volunteers: We can always use additional help at meetings for a) setup and teardown for meeting, b) assistance with book/DVD sales and with manning other exhibits, c) assistance with audio/video equipment used at meeting, and d) providing and serving refreshments at meetings.
  9. Make a Suggestion: We are always open to suggestions on how we can do more to fulfill the AFSC mission.
If you have a heart for the Lord, an interest in apologetics, a desire to serve, an inclination to expand/use your skills, or just make use of some spare time, please email Heinz at heinz@osta.com or call him at 425-501-5075. Heb. 6:10.
Thanks for your interest and support.
